First American Woman to Earn Chemistry Degree - Beth SchifferBeth Schiffer has been awarded the prestigious title of the first American woman to earn a Chemistry degree. She is also the first to attain a chemistry degree from Harvard University in England.In the U.S, there are many specialties that are in demand. Also, the US is an international player. And now, it has become very popular with the rising number of students pursuing science and technology-related degrees.Beth is one of the few American women to have done this feat. She has also founded the 'Beth's Bioscience: Education for Women Science Enthusiasts' in the U.S.A. Her cause has also won international recognition. It has won the title of 'Best Breakthrough Entrepreneur Award' in the Americas and has been honored as 'One of the Top 20 Women in Science and Technology'.Another very famous American, Ellen Stofan, who was born in the United States, has also completed a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Califor nia, San Diego. Both are women who study science and technology related fields and enjoy using their knowledge for the betterment of society. They have used their knowledge for research on the study of bacteria and other microorganisms, human health, environmental degradation, the spread of diseases and more.Yes, both these female students have studied in western countries. But, both of them have done their studies in Europe and have not resorted to attending lectures in America. In fact, Beth did not even leave her home town of Pennsylvania for studying.They have won the status of 'Recipient of the Distinguished-Scientist Award' in Japan and have set up their own Science Research Facility in Japan. As a result, they had made enormous contributions to the growth of the science and technology in Japan. Also, Ellen was chosen as the first woman in the National Institute of Health to become an osteopath. She also conducted research on bone diseases.These two girls have had a unique exp erience that cannot be ignored. They have completed their studies while taking care of their families in their respective countries.
